Overall, a superb Afrobeat album! Though I prefer my Afrobeat straight, no chaser, and the first track is a kind of reggae number, which clouded the purity of my enjoyment just a little. Reggae for me is about the only genre of Afro music I don't much like.("Super Wings" by Super Wings is dangerously close to Reggae, but that is such an awesome album I forgave it!).
There's a fabulous track on this album called "Take Your Soul" which I cannot believe the Stone Roses didn't hear before writing "Fool's Gold." You could call it an African "Fool's Gold," or more justly, you could call "Fool's Gold" a Brit "Take Your Soul." However, the overall sound of Sahara All Stars Of Jos has something John Squire himself said the Stone Roses music lacked: a nice "fat" sound. An instant favourite.
Favorite track: Take Your Soul.
